Simulations
The screen reader simulation reads words on the screen. This can help people that have a hard time reading small text or staring at a computer screen for an extended amount of time. The low vision simulator helps people with poor vision see the screen. The poor vision can be caused by several different diseases. This is useful for viewing graphics and navigating. The distractibility simulator showed what it is like to have a cognitive disorder. Some people are easily overwhelmed on websites.
Navigation
Navigation is essential to any website. These simulations prove that navigation should be simple, easy to read, and easy to find. Designers should always implement these rules to make their work more accessible. One option for more complex, flash-based websites it to make a simple version of the website for people with a disability.
My Website
I would keep my website the same. I planned on it being very simple with few aspects to it. It would have little to no text, so a text reader could easily work on it. The navigation is very simple and does not have very many buttons.
Usability v Accessibility
Usability is the ability to provide a good or service. This include the amount of things that you can do on a website. Accessibility is the quality of being at hand when needed. This means that content is easy to get to and understand. Both of these are essential to a successful website.

Week 6
The navigation will be above the title of the page. It will be very simple. It will have three different states (shown above). This will be a very small website, and there will be no need for breadcrumb navigation. Some of the pages might be broken down, but that is very unlikely. I would add a drop down to go to the different sections of each page if I broke them down.

Week 5
There will be one graphic on each side. They will each be from the same picture. The image will be in RGB format because it is more compatible. The overall color feel will be warm. I intend to have some orange in the image. The image will span across the background so it will have to be large. I would like the image to be at least 1024x768. There will be no animation on the graphics. It would be too distracting. There will be no interactivity with the background. It will have a smooth gradient on the edges. I would like it to be a Jpeg or a Bitmap image. The image would be 72 dpi. There will be some flash implemented on the navigation, but there will be very few other graphics. All of the bordering features will match the background. The graphic will be slightly visible in the background of the body.

Week 4
Title
(Gabriola, Bold, 36)
Heading (Gabriola,
Underline, 20)
Body (Myriad Pro, 12)
Links (Utsaah, 12)
I chose this font set because it reminds me of a scribe. The website I am creating is a Christian website. I also think that the text is easy to read, but still looks unique. I chose blue because it is a soothing color, and I chose gray because the bottom of the document will have a black bar. The gray allows for an easier transaction from black than white does.
Title
(Aparajita, Bold, 36)
Heading (Aparajita, Underline, 20)
Body (Myriad
Pro, 12)
Links (Cambria, 9)
I chose this set for a website with a lighter background. The text is bolder and a darker color. The text is easy to read and does not have any special attributes. The colors have a touch of blue to create a light soothing effect.
Title (Chaparral Pro, Bold, 30)
Heading (Chaparral Pro,
Underline, 20)
Body (Myriad Pro, 12)
Links (Eras Demi ITC, 10)
I chose this font set because it is very smooth. The fonts are rounded and easily flow. The website I am designing is meant to be inviting.Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Week 2
Structure
I would use a simple hub-and-spoke website structure. This means that there is one homepage that link to all of the other pages. This website will not have very many pages, so this method is the most efficient. Each page will have a link to the next page at the bottom, but users can freely navigate at the top of the page.

Week One
Description
I would like to create a non-profit website for someone at my church. They would like me to create a webpage for a new company that they would like to create. The basic idea behind the website is that a member will anonymously pay for someones meal. They will give the waiter a business card with this website on it, and the website will contain steps to becoming a Christian.
Audience
This website will be aimed at a large demographic. It will be friendly and appropriate for all ages. My goal is to create an inviting website that does not have any sway towards a particular age group. The ultimate goal is to create an inviting page for non-Christians.
Content
The homepage will contain a simple statement that will contain our message. It will have a brief summary of what we are offering, and what our website contains.
The message page will contain our invitation and the complete message. It will explain what it means to be a Christian and how to become one.
Our about page will explain our purpose.
We will have a page that has a utility to find churches near you. This website will not be aimed towards a particular church or denomination.
Delivery
The website will be very plain and simple. The text will be very straight forward. There will be subtle graphics, but not enough to distract. The pages will all have a similar layout and theme.
Goals
1. Create a website that has a warm and inviting feeling.
2. Create a useful app that finds nearby churches.
3. Create simple text that is not too overbearing.
